This was a rough weekend in Erie for the Ladylions. Are girls are still struggling with understanding how hard they must play to win games let alone tournaments. We lost our first game by 9 to the Wildcats, won our second game by 20+ against the Defenders with sloppy game play. Our third game we got Blown out late by the SMAC Young Ballers. A great 7th grade team that gave us a great opportunity to grow and realize how far we have to go as players and what the coach has to do to get them better. There is a enough ammunition on tape to learn from. Our constant bugga boos are missed layups, talking on the court, and minimizing turnovers. We have off this upcoming weekend and will use the next two weeks to prepare for a National Showcase Tourney in Toledo.
The girls are becoming closer on and of the court. Coach Doug continues to stress playing together and playing for one another. You can see the growth in them each Tournament as they continue to increase the margin of Victories and Decrease the margin of Losses
The Lions played their second tournament in two weeks and we have another tournament this week in PA. Our girls have showed great progress and improvement from our first tournament in Pittsburgh. We went 1-3 in Pittsburgh going against tough competition but all games were close. Turnovers were theme for the first weekend. We averaged 20 or more each game. This past weekend we played in the Buffalo Jamfest and we went 3-1 making it to the semi-final round and cutting our turnovers in half. We averaged under 10 each game. In the semifinal game we lost to Baseline by 6 points in a great game. This team beat us in our first Tournament by 13 points but in that game we lead most of the way. The same thing happen this game. We lead the whole game with only two or three lead changes, in the end Foul trouble was our undoing. We got our opponent in the Bonus way to early which made it hard to come back and take the lead. We're proud of the improvements made and the girls hard work is paying off. Keep it up, Girls. Go Lions!!
